Reorganization of Cochrane Anaesthesia, Critical and Emergency Care

Cochrane is going through major changes. Part of those changes involve reorganization of review groups' structure and function. As part of that organization Cochrane is splitting Cochrane Anaesthesia, Critical and Emergency Care (ACE) into two new groups: Cochrane Anaesthesia, and Cochrane Emergency and Critical Care.

Ann Moller, and Nathan Pace have stepped down as Co-ordinating Editors of Cochrane ACE Group. Both Ann and Nathan have been with the Group since the very beginning,  and as Co-ordinating Editors for 15 years and seven years of service, respectively. They will continue their involvement as Statistical and Content Editors for the two new Groups.

We would like to thank Ann and Nathan for their wonderful contribution as Co-ordinating Editors of ACE. We could not have achieved all we have done, without them.

Two new Co-ordinating Editors have been appointed to lead the two new Groups: Andy Smith (Lancaster, UK)  Anaesthesia, and  Harald Herkner (Vienna, Austria), Emergency and Critical Care. Both Andy and Harald have previously been Editors with ACE.

We are excited to work with them both.

The two new Groups will share the same Managing Editor: Jane Cracknell (, and the same Information Specialist: Janne Vendt (

Part of the 'splitting' process will involve determining which ACE title belongs to Cochrane Anaesthesia, and which to Cochrane Emergency and Critical Care. That activity will take some time. Whilst we are in the 'transition' process, ACE will retain one website. Once the 'split' has been formalized we intend to work on creating two websites.
